Charles Michaud : mastering engineer


Charles Michaud is an audio mastering engineer, musician and international live performer based in Paris, France.


After first studying physics at university, Charles gained a diploma in sound recording from the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire in France. He then graduated with a sound engineering diploma from the Fémis National Film and Sound School in Paris (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Métiers de l’Image et du Son). He is also a mastering engineer for sound deliverables in the movie industry and is currently a Visiting Lecturer for various sound engineering schools in Paris, including Ecole Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière, Institut Supérieur de l’Image et du Son, ESEC and more.


Charles’ own musical performance and composition career has seen him travel the globe for over a decade, alongside writing and programming soundtracks for fiction and documentary films. He possesses a wide and diverse musicological, theoretical and practical knowledge in all kind of music, which is a strong value in his mastering work.


Through his Paris-based studio, Preference Mastering, he has worked since 15 years on thousands of albums to date for numerous artists and labels from around the globe.
